i010 Denise Duffield-Thomas – Be The CEO, Not The Busy Bee, By Delegating

i010 Denise Duffield-Thomas Interview

In this episode of the Off The Charts business podcast, I get to ask my friend and money mindset mentor Denise Duffield-Thomas what she had to let go of and start doing more of in order to grow her business massively in the last few years.

Her answer? Giving up the fear of delegating. She got the jarring advice early on that you just “can’t get to six figures by yourself”… And she didn’t want to accept that.

Just because you can do everything, doesn’t mean you need to do everything yourself

As an entrepreneur, you’re a problem solver and you can take on the personality of the “I can handle it all” by myself. This is great in the early days, but can become a problem as you scale your business up.

When Denise became a mom, she realized it was going to be slow and painful to keep trying to do everything herself.

She read “The Big Leap” and figured out what her zone of genius is.

Then, she approached her assistant to help take over her email inbox. Her assistant also took over sending her newsletter.

Denise also shares that it’s okay to let go of some of the rules you might have about exactly how things need to be done. It can be a real blessing to have someone else do things, and sometimes they can do it even better than you might have done it.

What she started doing that changed things in a big way was batching. This lucky bitch batches!

Batching helped her become more organized and systematized. This way, she doesn’t need to wait for a flash of inspiration… and this reduced the stress of doing things last minute.

Denise started batching her weekly videos by getting her hair done one day, and recording 5 videos in one sitting. This freed up so much of her time, and was also more efficient for her assistant to help her streamline the day to day things in her business.

This opened up space for more creativity, and to come up with more ideas for what she can create. This mindset allowed her to really be the CEO of her business, not the Chief Everything Officer. This gave her permission to earn more.
