i007 – Amy Porterfield – Travel Less, Do More Webinars, and Scale Your Business

i007 Amy Porterfield Interview

You’re in for a treat in this episode of the Off The Charts Business podcast, because Amy Porterfield shares her recipe for business success… and it’s easier than you might think.

First, I asked Amy to take us back to her early days in business and what she learned along the way. This is one thing that I feel most business owners don’t talk about enough – those hard first few years, where you’re just doing whatever it takes to make your business profitable enough to pay the bills.

At the time, Amy was traveling a whole lot and attending a ton of conferences. I met her at many of these events myself, and we both some at BlogWorld Expo back in 2010-2011, too. What Amy learned is that she was spending so much time attending these events, she didn’t have time to really build the business she wanted and could envision for herself.

So she had to turn down speaking opportunities, in order to focus on building her digital training programs and launching her courses. She also had to transition out of doing a ton of consulting work with her clients.

Making this type of decision can feel counter-intuitive, because Amy was doing what she thought was necessary to grow her business. But when stopped traveling and focused on finding a way to grow her business online, things really took off!

Enter Webinars!

This may not come as a surprise if you know Amy Porterfield, but the one thing she started doing that really took her business off the charts was hosting more webinars.

What I love about this advice is that Amy found what she loved doing, got really good at it, and mastered the art of the webinar.

Amy’s experience is so valuable here, because she was able to turn her in-person interactions into online interactions using something as simple as a microphone, some slides, and some webinar software. Now she gets to rinse and repeat what works, and leave the rest behind.

Look at what you do well that connects with your audience, and go all-in on that!
