#116 What is a good conversion rate?

Off The Charts Business Podcast

If you’re doing any sort of business online then you likely have some goals for your website, especially when it comes to conversions. One of the most common questions I get asked is, “What is a good conversion rate?“.  Before we get to that, let’s define what a conversion is because it can be interpreted in a lot of ways.  A conversion happens when someone who visits a webpage and decides to take the action that you set for that page. The conversion rate is the number of people who took action, divided by the number of people who visited the page.

Looking at your conversion rate can help you know if your webpage and marketing strategy are on track or need some improvement.

Conversion rates depend on your traffic, so the first thing to know is it doesn’t matter how amazing or flashy your website, opt-in or products are if the wrong people are visiting your website or landing page. You need to have enough traffic to get a real sense of your conversion rate average. Ideally 100 conversions is a good number to get a true sense of your conversion rates.

Listen to the podcast to learn how to determine whether you have a good conversion rate — and how to improve it.
