Interesting, thanks! In my case I’d be reluctant to lose the facility on Mailerlite (and similar services) to set up welcome sequences and special emails to particular segments. How did you balance these features against Substack?
That's a great point! I do really like welcome email sequences, and I'm not getting rid of our email platform entirely. We're keeping our "demo" email opt-in for people who are curious about our product through our email platform, so we can do automated follow-up there.
But the newsletter part is moving to Substack. We've built a list over nearly a decade - obviously many people have come and gone during that time - but I don't feel like it needs automation as much as better publishing options. :)
I love the mention of webrings, those were the days! I taught myself to code in basic HTML thanks to other people's websites, and webrings were a big part of that. :)

It's true. I have so many things going on, and it's different in different companies. Substack is like webrings on steroids and I love it.
